Director's Statement:

"I was lucky to be born in a middle class family in Brazil, and was taught the value of education. I grew up in a politicized environment seeing and experiencing first hand, the extreme social difference that exists in Brazil. When I was 18 years old, I decided to study Economics in Spain, in order to become a politician and help the underprivileged. Years later, disillusioned with politics and corruption, I discovered film as a powerful tool for social change.

Harsh is a film that aspires to be a social project. The idea is to draw attention to the lack of opportunity in the lives of children living in poverty and to show that sometimes, crime is not a choice. This is a film about children's dreams and their opportunity to realize those dreams."
