Description:
From the celestial mountains to the peak of Shanghai's towers: two young peasants have to leave their village to get to the metropolis.

Babel is an allegory of today's China. The characters go through the time and suffer the unseen speeding-up of the historical process which is facing the country.

“One characteristic, above all, sets contemporary civilization apart from those that preceded it: speed. This metamorphosis came about in the space of one generation”, remarked historian Marc Bloch in the 1930's. That is part of Western twentieth century history. The same phenomena is happening in China today, the mutation is happening in the space of a few years.
