The Porcelain Doll (A porcelánbaba) |
Year: 2005Running Time: 75 minutes Country: Hungary Genre: Fiction Cast: Lajos Bertók, Sándor Csányi, Judit Németh Showtime: Wednesday, March 15, 2006 @ 09:30 PM Director: Péter Gárdos Description: Based on three stories by the Hungarian fabulist Ervin Lázár, The Porcelain Doll unfolds at Star Farm, a supernatural place that exists in and out of time. It’s a world with its own laws where the most impossible happenings make perfect sense to the inhabitants. Indeed, instances of miraculous resurrection unite the film’s three episodes. In the first, an adolescent boy challenges some imperial soldiers, in the second, a "comrade" from government headquarters promises to raise the dead, and in the third, an elderly couple try desperately to avoid deportation. The stories and film might be considered a metaphor for the fundamental Central European experience. Screening With: Black In Men |
