Description:
SAINT MONICA is a poignant story about a young Catholic Portuguese girl, Monica (newcomer Genevieve Buechner), living in Toronto with her struggling, single mother Icelia (Brigitte Bako) and her angry, unemployed uncle Albert (Maurizio Terrazzano).

Monica’s most fervent wish is to be an angel in the annual summer church procession. When she learns she is to be replaced in the parade, Monica steals a pair of the ‘angel wings’, only to lose them on a streetcar. In her attempts to recover them from Mary (Clare Coulter), a troubled homeless woman who believes she is communicating with God, Monica learns something about being a real angel.
