Solo Avital is an autodidact, multi-talented musician and filmmaker. He has been a musician since age 11, and at 15 he directed, filmed and edited his first short documentary film, using his father’s Panasonic M7 VHS camera and editing, cut-to-cut, using two VHS recorders. The frustration of these primitive means challenged him to master every technology that he could lay his hands on, and so he did through the years.
In the early 90’s, Solo was already an experienced technology wizard. As an expert in 3D character animation, Solo was invited to Babelsberg Studios in Potsdam Germany and became the house special effects supervisor. The studio was short of talented people, and Solo was asked to take over several different creative hats. He eventually became the house top digital compositing artist, working on the Quantel Domino and Discreet Inferno high-end machines. (Projects list and title available at www.happyzoda.com)
During five years in the studios, he directed various high budget commercials and made special effects for several blockbuster films. After five years in Babelsberg and ten years in the industry, Solo decided it was time to go back to his roots and returned to his love and passion of writing, music recording and filmmaking.
In 2002, he returned to Israel and since then has completed three documentary films, the most recent being 2006's “…MORE THAN 1000 WORDS”
2003 – “Keep On Dancing” 24MIN
2004 – “Art Liberates” 54MIN
2006 – “…MORE THAN 1000 WORDS”
2007 – “UNPREDICTABLE” (Working Title) in the making
