Sandra Werneck was norn in Rio de Janeiro in 1951. After attending film school she began her career making shorts and documentaries that highlighted social problems.
The recipient of numerous awards, her work has also been well-received in Europe, as was her later feature film debut Pequeno Dicionario Amoroso (Little Book of Love) made in 1996. Her second feature film, Amores Possiveis (Possible Loves, 2001) co-directed by Walter Carvalho, topped box office charts and was a success on the international theatrical circuit.
