Roger Cantin
During the mid 1960s, Roger Cantin – then passionate about 8mm cinema – quickly became a prolific independent filmmaker, working as a writer, director, editor or producer on some 30 short films. He became known for his experiments with special effects and many of his films won awards and other distinctions.

In 1985, he co-scripted André Melançon’s La Guerre des Tuques, and, beginning in 1989, directed a number of features tinged with fantasy and comedy: Simon les nuages, L’Assassin jouait du trombone, Le Grand Zèle, Matusalem, La Vengeance de la femme en noir and Matusalem II.
