Juan Gerard
Born in Holguín, Cuba, where he lived next door to a movie theater. After the triumph of the Revolution, at a young age, he moved to the U.S. with his parents. Earned degrees in Architecture and Engineering from the University of Miami. Spent a year working in England, then relocated to Puerto Rico, where he became a film critic, arthouse exhibitor and distributor, and founder-director of the San Juan CinemaFest and Puerto Rico International Film Festival.

CUBA LIBRE (aka: Dreaming of Julia) is his first film as director, co-written with his wife and partner, writer-producer Letvia Arza-Goderich.
