Salomón Shang was born in Barcelona on the 7th of October 1976.
He studies cinematographical direction, edition and acting in the Centre d’Estudis Cinematogràfics de Catalunya. In 1997 he performs his first short-length film in 35mm, Te Quiero, pero no Mucho.
During 1998, Shang performs some short-length films such as: Veinticuatro Noche and Bambino, film presented at Festival de Cinema de Sitges ’98.
In 1999, he writes and directs his first long-length film, Después de la Luz, shot in 35mm and produced by Grup Cinema Art. The film was entirely achieved on May 2001.
The spanish magazine ‘La Guia del Ocio’ publishes an article (May 1999) introducing Shang as a young promise in cinema´s world. In this way, Shang gains the acknowledgement of the spanish cinema sector.
From a joint venture between Salomón Shang and J.L. García P.C. a new company is born: Producciones Kaplan, S.L., on the 2000. Its first production, Metropolitan, second film of Shang. The film has been presented at the main festivals of cinema, specially detached the Moscow International Film Festival 2001, Bradford Film Festival 2001, Berlin Film Festival 2002. Actually, Metropolitan is exposed at the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television of England, since its exhibition in Bradford and the excellent reviews recived. In 2003 Shang has written directed and produced other titles: La Mujer sin Alma/La Dona sense Ànima, Santa Llúcia (provisional title) and Madre Cuba.
