Yoshinari Nishikori
Yoshinari Nishikori was born in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture in 1962. His debut film Bugs, which he wrote and directed, was selected for the Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival in 1996.

In 2002, his film, A White Ship, recorded the top box offices sales in the mini theater division in Japan that year. Un-Nan: The Legend of the Eight-Headed Serpent (2008) won the prize at Honolulu International Film Festival. Railways (2010) won the grand prize at Kinotayo Film Festival, held in Paris, France.

Other works include: Will Be There for You (1999), Hâto obu za shî (2003), Miracle Banana (2005), Wasao (2011) and Konshin (2013), an official selection for The Montreal World Film Festival.

Tatara Samurai (2016) is his latest film.
