"I always believed I could manufacture visions unlike anything seen before. I therefore learnt screenwriting and wrote a feature I considered ideal, unprecedented in form but still founded upon a meaningful story. However, while the script reached the quarterfinals of two international screenplay competitions, besides this nobody was even willing to read it.
So I undertook a crash course in filmmaking as I felt this the only way to have my work recognised. The year before I made Enfilade was the first time I’d ever used a video camera, acted, performed visual effects, edited or performed any film-related activity whatsoever besides writing. However, I had been making films for years in my head, I just needed to somehow manifest these visions physically so they could be shared with others.
After one year of relentless learning with fantastic filmmaking partner Lewis Costin we made Enfilade unfunded on a budget of $2900. The crew consisted entirely of students, ourselves included, with Lewis and myself undertaking an inordinate number of roles.
However, Enfilade is only the beginning. As a first film, it isn’t a true reflection of the films I can create. I am not like other filmmakers. In my head, I already have ideas for shorts and features completely unlike anything seen before. Like Enfilade however, the challenge is manifesting them into viewable entities to enable their sharing."
