Trevor Laurence & Simeon Hutner
Trevor Laurence is a film and television director, producer and an Emmy-nominated editor. As an editor Laurence received an Emmy nomination for his work on the PBS documentary Daredevils & Dreamers in 1998. He has more recently worked as producer/editor on the feature length documentary, “Florent: Queen of the Meat Market,” which won the audience award for best documentary at Newfest 2009.
In 2010 he produced and edited the reality television pilot “Wild Harvest.” He has also edited many short films including the documentary “Tooling Around Woodstock – Featuring Levon Helm,” “East End Girl,” on the British artist Clara Klinghoffer, and “The Man From Oklahoma,” a narrative short.
A former guitar student of Woody Mann, Laurence is thoroughly acquainted with the music of Reverend Gary Davis and has been a teacher of Davis’s style. He was a partner in International Guitar Seminars where he ran seminars teaching traditional music for six years, and was also a partner in Acoustic Sessions, a DVD production company, where he directed and produced over 60 music instructional and performance DVDs.
Simeon Hutner (co-Director and Editor)
Simeon Hutner is a film director, producer and editor with over twenty years of film and television credits, including many works shown at Sundance and other film festivals, as well as on HBO, BBC, Bravo, A&E and PBS. Simeon directed the prize-winning documentaries No Humans Involved, which premiered at Telluride; St.
Mulekicker, which played in over 40 film festivals world-wide; Martyrs and Saints, acclaimed by Manohla Dargis as “powerful and engrossing”; and My Brother, Nathaniel, which aired on the PBS series Reel New York. He is currently editing the documentary feature Vessel, about the Dutch abortion activist Rebecca Gomperts.
Selected credits include: editing on the documentary features When I Walk, Melting Planet and Blue Vinyl which premiered at Sundance in 2013, 2007 and 2002, respectively; Mentor (Tribeca premier, 2006) and Chicks in White Satin, an Academy Award Nominee in 1994.
Simeon received MacDowell fellowships in 2001 and 2003, and Yaddo fellowships in 2002 and 2004. He has an MFA in Film Production from the University of Southern California, an MBA from New York University and a BA from Middlebury College.
