Exploration and adventure have long been powerful forces in the life and work of Swedish cinematographer Sven Lindahl, who has just directed his first full-length documentary, The Mongolian Dream.
Working both in the US and Europe as a director of photography for companies such as Reuters, the BBC and SVT, Lindahl brings a wealth of technical experience to his directorial debut.
Lindahl’s photo journalism and cinematography appear regularly on both Swedish and BBC television and include the award-winning documentaries Sigrid & Isaac, The Nun, and Aching Heart; as well as Wikirebels and the recent BBC Storyville film The Genius and the Boys. In post production is the new upcoming documentary Since with director Phil Furey and Oscar awarded filmmaker Cynthia Wade as executive producer.
He has crossed the Sahara two times in different kinds of vehicles, met with old cannibal tribes in the Amazon and hiked out in tents in -40F, traversing the far North mountains of Sarek in Sweden winter. Despite his need for this kind of experiences, he considers himself quite a normal person. It is just that his curiosity constantly drives him to different places in the world, where Mongolia is the most fascinating one so far.
