A graduate of UCLA Computer Science & Engineering School, Sam Chen began his career as a computer graphics specialist at Silicon Graphics where he helped pioneer 3D content creation for the World Wide Web. Since then, he has devoted his time creating award-winning animation. His film, "Eternal Gaze," is an animated short that has screened in over 100 festivals worldwide, and has won over 30 festival awards including the Grand Prize at SIGGRAPH 2003 and was short-listed for the 2004 Academy Award. His television work has garnered multiple Emmy and Telly Awards. He has been invited by Pixar, Dream Works,and Disney Feature Animation Studios as a speaker on computer animation filmmaking.
Outside of filmmaking, Chen devotes his time as the Artistic Programmer for the San Diego Asian Film Foundation, and teaches and serves on the Advisory Board for the Art Institute of California and Platt College School of Design. He is currently a Rockefeller Foundation & Tribeca Film Institute Fellow.
