Louis Bélanger
In 1999, Louis Bélanger’s directed his first film, Post Mortem, which won five Jutra Awards including, Best Direction, Best Film, and Best Screenplay (2000), as well as three Génie Awards, including Best Achievement in Direction, and Best Original Screenplay. Post Mortem was also recognized at the Montréal World Film Festival (1999) with the award for Best Director; voted the Best Feature Film by the Association Québécoise des Critiques de Cinéma (AQCC, 1999); and earned a Special Distinction from the International Jury of Critics (FIPRESCI). Bélanger wrote and directed his second feature film, Gaz Bar Blues, in 2003, which opened the Montréal World Film Festival that same year and earned several awards at the same event. In 2007, he travelled with his film Le Génie du crime, produced by Les Éditions Lycaon and the next year, he directed the The Timekeeper, starring Roy Dupuis and Craig Olejnik.
