Abdulla Alkaabi was born in the Emirate of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates on the 7th of October, 1986. At the age of 16, Abdulla moved to Dubai to continue his studies at the American University of Sharjah, While still studying, Abdulla was scouted to present Green Light Charity, a prime time reality show revolving around 4 Arab youths running a charity organization in Dubai, broadcasted on Dubai TV in 2005. This instilled his passion for the media where he then became a main reporter on Male Box (Dubai TV), a menís lifestyle show covering cars, menís fashion and sports.
In 2008, Abdulla presented Tawasol on Sama Dubai, a live prime-time weekly talk show. Alongside presenting, Abdulla was a full-time model/actor for print media and TV commercials in the region, working for a variety of clients. Knowing that he always wanted to be behind the camera, in the directorís seat, Abdulla moved to Paris in 2009 to complete his Masterís Degree in filmmaking and start a career in the cinema industry.
ęI chose to adapt Baggioís Story by Charlie Fish because of the personal message behind the story, which is, friendship is a valuable resource that one can have. Companionship, brotherhood and hospitality are some of the themes found in this story that also drove me towards it because they are qualities that are rooted in the Arab culture. When I read the story, I related to the characters and I knew I would enjoy depicting the faces of Roberto and Leo into a script. In a world filled with separating people based on their differences in class, age, sex, belief or race, I think it is important to showcase a story that speaks of the opposite and that encourages to overlook the differences when meeting someone new and look at that person for who he really is.Ľ
