Rania Attieh & Daniel Garcia
Rania Attieh is from Tripoli, Lebanon. She holds an MFA in Media Art Production from the City College of New York as a writer/ director of Fiction. During her studies she had received the Saperstein award and the New York Women in Film and Television scholarship. Her thesis film was awarded "Best Fiction film" at the CCNY Citivisions showcase in May 2009.
is from South Texas, USA. He recently graduated with an MFA in film at New York University, Tisch Graduate School of the Arts. His second year film “Nothing Nowhere”, shot on location in Morocco, won the NYU Achievement in Experimental Form Award in April 07.
In addition to their partnership as visual artists whose work have been displayed in galleries all over the world, Rania and Daniel have written and directed many short films to date that have screened at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and many film festivals (Avignon Film Festival, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Slamdance Film Festival, Woodstock Film Festival).
Their film “From the Parapet” was a regional finalist at the 32nd Annual Student Academy Awards in 2005, and “Almost Brooklyn” was made under the supervision of acclaimed Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, who invited the film to represent his American directors workshop at the Corrida Audiovisuelle in Toulouse France in December 07. This short also won Best Short Fiction from the Brooklyn Art Council in 08.
Tripoli, Quiet has received the Black Pearl Award for “Best Middle Eastern Short” at the Middle East International Film Festival- Abu Dhabi in October 09.
