Bevan’s latest short film, Love Does Grow on Trees, premiered at the Rushes Soho Shorts Festival 2008, where it won the ‘Best Newcomer’ award. Since then it has been nominated for a British Independent Film Award and singled out for praise by Danny Boyle at the awards ceremony. It has screened to great acclaim at the London Film Festival, was a finalist in the Kodak Short Film Competition and won ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Comedy’ at the Super Shorts International Film Festival 2009.
The film is still touring the festival circuit and, having already made waves in the UK and Europe, recently premiered in the US at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it was named one of New York Magazine’s ‘Best Five Shorts at Tribeca’. It has since screened at the Palm Springs Shorts Fest, the LA ShortsFest and was personally invited by Michael Moore to screen at the Traverse City Film Festival in Michigan.
Bevan was recently featured in an Arena Magazine article profiling “the next generation of filmmakers” and subject of Shooting People’s last ‘Split Focus’ short film retrospective event at the BFI Southbank. He was also one of 25 filmmakers selected for last years British Film Institute ‘Think-Shoot-Distribute’ programme for emerging talent.
He is currently developing several features, shorts and TV projects as well as teaching filmmaking for the Cineclub Young Filmmakers Network. His latest project with them, Full Metal Exam, won ‘Best Film’ at the annual Cineclub awards held at the BFI Southbank in July 2009.
