Christy Chan
A Virginia-born filmmaker and writer, Christy had to work hard to see her first films. Her hometown of Sterling elected not to have a cinema or cable television until 1992. After studying marketing and media at Virginia University, she moved to San Francisco and worked as an advertising copywriter.

Writing ads took her around the U.S. and into Asia, Australia and the UK. In 2005, Christy left the commercial world for another one: Independent film. She is currently producing a feature-length documentary on class division in a post-Republican era. Her film collective in San Francisco, New Pilgrim Films, brings together independent artists with social objectives.

Wash ní Fold is her directorial debut.
