Saleyha Ahsan
Saleyha Ahsan is an emerging film-maker with an unconventional career background. Currently working as a junior doctor, she has contributed over the past5 years to Channel 4 News , Radio 4’s Today and Woman’s Hour and was the reporter for the BBC’s5 Live reports “Women in Black” and “Holy Warriors” Her first independently made film “Article 17-Doctors in Palestine, 2002” was sponsored by the British Film Council and screened at the Raindance Film Festival. Saleyha was part of the writing team on “Trouble Sleeping” a film depicting the lives of refugees in Scotland.

A former British Army Captain, she has continued to work in conflict zones. She was in front of the camera for her original idea for “Crossfire in Kashmir” a documentary for C4. She has worked in Palestine both independently and for the BBC. In 2003 Saleyha returned to Bosnia, where she had served with the Army, armed this time with a camera, filming for a charity supporting conflict recovery.

Investigatory documentary is a continuing interest. She has worked for BBC Scotland as a researcher for Frontline Scotland and Channel 4’s Dispatches.
