Academy Award-nominated filmmaker and Gold Record-winning record producer Nick Redman has enjoyed a 14-year relationship with 20th Century-Fox. As consultant to the Fox Music Group’s Classics Division, he has developed and overseen Hollywood’s most comprehensive film music restoration program, personally producing more than 300 albums.
In his capacity as a film historian, he has presided over commentaries for dozens of DVDs. As producer and director, he has provided special materials—documentaries and commentaries—for still more DVDs, most recently for Sam Peckinpah’s Legendary Westerns Collection, honored by Entertainment Weekly as the Number One DVD of 2006.
Redman’s special interest in the Western genre has given rise to two celebrated documentaries. The Redman-produced The Wild Bunch: An Album in Montage garnered an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary, Short Subject, and won Best Documentary Short at the Chicago International Film Festival. And A Turning of the Earth: John Ford, John Wayne, and The Searchers—written, produced, and directed by Redman—was named Best Documentary at the Toronto International Short Film Festival.
Most recently he has produced and directed "Becoming John Ford," a feature documentary detailing Ford's years at Fox, focusing on the renowned director's relationship with studio head, Darryl F. Zanuck.
