Cécile Vernant was born in 1973 and grew up in Martinique. She left after she did her A-Level. After beeing degreed in Foreign Civilisation Sciences from the Sorbonne she joined the famous french acting class Court Florent. She started her actress career in 1998 and decided to become a film director in 2004.
Her first short is a romantic film named "Le dîner", produced by La Boîte. While she was waiting for the start of "Le dîner" project, she produced; wrote and directed a comedy named "Mot compte double". This film was awarded at the "Canal+/Les films faits à la maison" comptetition and was selected in a dozen of French and international festivals.
Her script for "Once upon a time … Sasha and Desire" recieved the HOHOA award from the Cannes International Critik's Week in 2005. She made the film during the summer of 2006 which was produced by Les films du requin where it was shown in french Festival like Aubagne, Alès, Amiens, Saint Barth and abroad in festivals like Fespaco de Ougadougou, London Images of Black Women.
Curently Cécile Vernant is working on her third short.
